Here's Lima's original 1970s attempt at the Victorian Railways S class diesel-electric locomotive. The prototype is a GM product, but Lima based their model on the existing ALCo 44 class loco (8042L) by adding new sides, but leaving the ALCo world series cabs, roof and chassis. So this model was very wrong and consequently, unpopular. Lima did later release a more accurate model using completely new tooling. An amusing result of this model was that the sides of the 44 class chassis had to be altered in order to fit the round porthole windows in the side of the incorrect S class body. They did this by including 4 cutaway sections in the sides of the chassis - a modification that (to the best of my knowledge) has remained in all of Lima's ALCo World series models made from that time.
My avatar, although showing the double-ended B class, shows the GM style of cab that the Lima model failed to emulate.
