I am a total noob when it comes to this, I was given a really cool little set from my step-grandad before he passed away, who was a train driver for SAR back in the 50s and I was hoping someone could give me some information about it. I have added pictures if that helps!
It's a boxed set from Lima, if that means anything, the train is an Electric South African Railways E444 plus dummy engine and it's coaches and it comes with a Coach Wash and track, it also has a power thingy, does anyone know anything about this set or make of trains, I am completely clueless?
TIA :)|addpics|n3y-1-2b59.jpg,n3y-2-a2db.jpg,n3y-3-86ef.jpg,n3y-4-fd47.jpg,n3y-5-97de.jpg,n3y-6-8aee.jpg,n3y-7-7724.jpg|/addpics|
and welcome to our forum. This is a very nice set, which fetches (in case you would try to buy or sell) quite some money. Strangely enough, those sets tend to be more expensive in Europe than in ZA. One remark, the engine on top is not from Lima, but a model of Chinese origin, which was sold in ZA through the brand name of Lifelike back in the 70's and early 80's. Nevertheless, it's a quite rare thing and you can be happy to have one of those in your collection. The Lima-set istself is from the early 1980's (80 - 85).
