Some time ago I came into posession of this starter ser of the Swiss railways comprised of a railcar and several passenger coaches. Apart from the price, which was really cheap due to the appalling state of the set, I found it interesting due to the tractive power coming from a Railcar (something quite odd for a convoy). According to the box, it must have been from 1977 or 1978
To my knowledge Swiss Railways (SBB/CFF/FFS) used RBe 4/4 railcars for express train service (R-dessignation means built for speeds of +110kph). Usually light express coaches (Type EW1 & EW2) were used. So this set is prototypical except the sleeper. I doubt those light express trains ever had sleeper service. But, coaches in need for repair went to the shops in regular trains, so this might be an excuse for the sleeper in this set.
The set contents seem to be original, but I've never seen a picture of this set by now. Anyway, it's rather interresting, thanks very much for showing!
Here are some pics of a Starter set I bought from ebay some time ago for just $25 plus shipping. Its number is #106034 and is comprised of a BR-218 #201632, a Restaurant car from the DSG #309214, a UIC-X 2 class passenger car #309178 and a UIC-X parcel van #309314. The box also included tracks,a battery trafo and the 1977/78 edition catalogue in German.
